Lupe Fiasco The Bio

Posted by ahmad709 on July 29, 2009

Hip-hop music, once a platform for creative expression and friendly competition, has, sadly, become a popularity contest. With record sales down and ringtone dollars up, rookies searching for that “one big hit” seem solely concerned with being deemed “cool.” Lyrics have side-stepped, giving way to dance-instructing “rappers” more concerned with sparking the new “Macarena” than being hailed as an MC. Born and raised in the seedy, confrontational West side of Chicago, Illinois, Fiasco grew up like the regular urban survivor. What wasn’t common, however, was the means by which he carried himself. Comic books and literature of all genres cluttered his bedroom floor, and a skateboard. In 2004, Fiasco signed with Atlantic Records – even launching his own company, 1st & 15th Entertainment – and began recording his debut, Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor. Fiasco’s first major look came on fellow Chi-town native Kanye West’s hit single, “Touch The Sky,”Now, ready to capitalize on such promise, Fiasco has returned with his second offering, Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool. A largely conceptual tour-de-force, the album’s title is inspired by a standout track from Fiasco’s debut, a hustler-turned-zombie epic also called “The Cool.” This time around, Fiasco introduces three new characters – Michael Young History (The Cool before his death), The Game (a male personification of a hustler’s damaging influences), and The Streets (a female embodiment of an urban area’s corrupt allure).

the new harry potter

Posted by Mo on July 29, 2009

Harry potter and the Half blood prince was amazing. Just was i thought that Harry potter and the Order of Phoenix was the best, this one came out. Although i didn’t get to read the book, i understood it so very much. I found the ending quite ironic. When I walked into the theater, I thought it would be packed, instead i was the only one in there. I brought my brother into the theater with me to see if he liked it. he didn’t understand it like most people because they haven’t watched or read the first harry potters. Before I watched it, i read other reviews and they weren’t too bright. Some talked about how it was filled with too much teenage romance. I thought otherwise.

Our Great Debate

Posted by Loren on July 28, 2009

For our debate our topic is on if  the racism gap has closed in America. I think it hasn’t because there is a lot of things on the news and how there are groups forming against other ethnic groups.

Step

Posted by brandon0709 on July 28, 2009

I learned a lot from this program. They have forensic science, public speaking, blogging, and court. In the blogging class the teacher taught how to blog and put pictures and videos on the blog. In the forensic science class they teach us about blood, fingerprints, and observation skills which is kind of like CSI. The also helped us with public speaking. The court class taught us about court.

S.T.E.P.

Posted by Nas on July 28, 2009

Wow this was a “different” experience. It was different from the other camps i’ve gone too which are usually just for fun. This camp wasn’t “just” fun it was also interesting. Some of my favorite  classes were blogging 1st, then Law even though they were at like the same level but then it was public speaking.  In blogging and technology you got to do pretty cool stuff. Mrs. Rodriguez was an awesome teacher and blogging involved youtube vids, blogs, pics, collages and just being yourself. I loved every other class but i dont know blogging was the best (i dont know though law was cool tooooo)
